Same old me, new style!

Inspired by the inspiration placed on facebook by a friend of mine I started drawing again. But I wanted to try something new... after I finished the drawing part I cut out the girl, replaced the background with aluminium foil, used wrapping paper for the goblet, and normal black coloured paper... I have no clue where the original photo comes from, but thank you ;), love it!! And my version... is decorating my room :).

Have a home made christmas :)

All you need: christmas ribbons, a candle, cinnamon sticks, fake cherries/berries, mushrooms and red peppers or anything else! Put it all together on a nice garland (a real one, please!!), use iron strings to secure the decorations.. and voila! Ho Ho Ho... Merry Christmas!

Wreck a Bag!

I like canvas bags, I do. But I never use them, because most of them are boring... Last week I bought a new jacket and it came with a black canvas bag. Black! Always better than white :). However, as you can see, there was a logo on it. A big screeming-blue logo. Not so nice. So I gathered leftovers and plastified a Vivienne Westwood picture and started to wreck the Kelly-bag ;)! Due to a lack of wreck-time, it's not totally wrecked jet... hope to finish next week :). But I just wanted to share this new look of the first canvas bag I actually intent to use ;)!

Earring earring on the wall...

It has to be somewhere.. I got one here, but where is the other one? Lost an earring (again!)? Such a pity! This is a dilemma I can't have any more since my earrings are neatly organized on an earring board. However, it looks like chaos ;)... Mine is already old but I made some new ones for friends :). However, I think that there are more bell-addicts in this world tired of losing their beloved ones so I made some extra boards. Pictures of those available will follow soon. This is one I made for friends. The size is 30x40 cm. The inside is white striped fabric with two tones of silver/grey lining. There is space for different sizes of earrings. The maximum number of pairs is ca. 65.

Discovering Haarlem!

Last week I went shopping in Haarlem for the first time. My mission: work clothes! Of course it is very easy to visit H&M, Vero Moda, Only, Vila, etc. But there is no point in going to an undiscovered shop city if that is what you want... same collection everywhere! Boooring! Haarlem is a perfect city for such mission :D! Lovely boutiques in the streets surrounding the main shopping street. So... if you are planning a shopping trip to Haarlem, please do not forget these lovely findings :)...

AMANZIO

Located at the Kruisstraat 40, you will find a modern shop Amanzio. Quality clothes from designers from different countries for reasonable prices. I bought this cute blazer from Attentif, a French label. Next to clothes they sell shoes (high-higher-highest heels!), bags (birkin style) and other accessories. IT

Located at the Barteljorisstraat (north end), is a luxuary boutique named IT. They also have a shop at the Gedempte Oude Gracht 91. Not cheap, but oh so nice! They sell labels like Ted Baker, Supertrash, mbyM and jet more to come! I bought this high waisted skirt from mbyM with an all-the-way-down zip at the back :). The best kept secret/ Jutka&Riska Located at Gierstraat 45 you will find the English style shop The Best Kept Secret. Run by an English mother and daughter. They have unique items! Really really really a must go!! They travel back to England every other week to come back with 500 new items. Most of them are posted on their facebook wall. I bought this dress and blue pants. But if I would have had the money.... oh! Almost forgot to mention the accessories they sell! I am in love! Fall in love to at www.facebook.com/bestkeptsecretfashion

Another lovely boutique is situated at Kruisstraat 15, Jutka&Riska. They sell vintage items, own design, new collections, items by young designers and customized items. Vanwege afstuderen en het vinden van een baan met auto moet ik helaas afscheid nemen van mijn trouwe studentenfiets in de hoop hiermee een andere student natuurlijk heel blij te maken :)!

Zijn staat? Behalve wat gebruiksschrammetjes hier en daar piekfijn in orde. Recent heeft hij een nieuw voorwiel gekregen en het achterwiel is ook al een keer vervangen. De bandjes zijn ook nog in nette staat :)! Het stuur is niet meer origineel maar wel functioneel...

Geen fan van roze? Met een likje verf in een nieuw kleurtje is daar niks meer van te zien :)!

A Major in Onboard Boredom

I love to travel...! This time I donated my time on the plane to doodling on the vomit-bag, major boredom :P... hope it is still on the plane :D and not thrown away haha!

Currently I am on holiday at the beautiful island of Bali... no time for new creative updates, but I do have some time to upload some nice pictures I took the last couple of days :)!

Another pimped-up notebook!

I once received this little notebook as a gift, of course without the funny cover ;). The original cover was a dull one! So with some help of pictures out of magazines, gold ribbon, shine through yellow/gold ribbon and glue... I turned it in to a fancy notebook :)!

Een tijdje geleden kreeg dit kleine notitieboekje cadeau, zonder deze kaft natuurlijk ;). De originele kaft was niet veel bijzonders! Dus met behulp van plaatjes uit tijdschriften, goud lint, doorzichtig geel/goud lint en lijm... heb ik er wel een leuk notitieboekje van gemaakt :)!

Recycle it, love!! The Silver Vans case :)

Just like Vivienne Westwood, the recycle queen, I used my inventory of unused items (=trash!) to solve a problem and create something new :). Let me explain ;)... I recently bought the ultimate pair of Vans: silver ones! Didn't want the 'standard' black/blue/red ones cause everyone is wearing them. So I bumped into a pair of silver ones and it was love at the first sight. Problem: the laces were way tooooo long! Nooo good! At home I found white ribbon in the box where we keep the remainings of previous projects. Perfect to serve as lace for my new Vans :)! Second problem: a pair of unused laces remained. And that is where my creativity kicked in ones again... :). The result: a lace and button bracelet! And the buttons are...of course... vintage ;)! I already received the first order: my mum ;)! Who's next?

Net zoals Vivienne Westwood, de koningin van het recyclen, heb ik mijn voorraad ongebruikte rommel gebruik om een probleem op te lossen en iets nieuws te toveren :)! Het verhaal ;)... ik ben al een hele tijd op zoek geweest naar het meest geweldige paar Vans, ik wilde geen standaard zwarte/blauwe/rode hebben want daar loopt iedereen al mee. Ik liep tegen een paar zilveren aan en was meteen verkocht! Het probleem: de veters waren meters te lang! Niet charmant! Thuis vond ik in de box met ongebruikte rommel wit lint. Net lang genoeg om twee veters van te maken. Volgende probleem: het paar veters bleef over. Op dat moment ging de hele handel in mijn bovenkamer weer aan de slag. Het resultaat: een geknoopte veterarmband met knopen! En de knopen... tja... die zijn uit grootmoeders tijd ;)! Ik heb mijn eerste bestelling al binnen: mams! Wie is de volgende?

Fairy Tale Flower Top

Once upon a time on a market in a small village nearby I found this flower power fabric. It was on for sale and that always makes my heart beat a little bit faster... I had to have it ;). When I came back home I immediately made this blouse... I couldn't wait! It is a two-piece butterfly model blouse... sweet, easy and comfortable :)!

Er was eens een marktje in een dorpje hier vlakbij. Bij het stoffenkraampje vond ik een lapje stof met een flower power print. Het was in de uitverkoop, wat wil je nog meer! Ik moest het hebben! Thuis ging ik meteen aan de slag om er een blouse van te maken. Wachten kon ik niet! Het is een 2-delige vlinder-model blouse geworden... lief, makkelijk en comfortabel :)!

Roll-up photo frame :)!

This is a photo taken in my room in Austria last winter. I stayed there for a couple of months as a ski instructor :). I have had the time of my life there ;) (well.. at least till so far :P). Anyway! I wanted to have something to remember home while being away. Something where I could stick pictures in and collect my postcards. But! A large photo frame wouldn't work... how do you fit that in your suitcase/backpack? Noo idea, so I made a photo-frame-like thing that can be rolled up :). Because I received lots and lots of postcards it is a bit messy in this picture... but there is a really sweet coloured fabric behind it ;)! Scroll down for those pictures :). Now... if you want to make such a thing all you need is a patch of fabric (size is all yours) in a colour you love, ribbon, buttons and a wooden staff. It is easy... just take a close look at the pictures or ask me if it is not clear :)! I'll be happy to help you :)!

De foto bovenaan is genomen in mijn kamer in Oostenrijk afgelopen winter. Ik ben daar een paar maanden geweest om skiles te geven :). Heb daar de tijd van m'n leven gehad ;) (tenminste.. tot nu toe :P). Maargoed! Ik wilde iets hebben waarmee ik toch een stukje thuis mee had. Iets waar ik foto's in kwijt kon en ook de eventuele kaartjes van het thuisfront. Een grote fotolijst was geen optie... hoe stop je die in je koffer of rugzak? Geen idee! Uiteindelijk is het een fotodoek geworden dat opgerold kan worden :). Omdat ik heel veel kaartjes heb gekregen van het thuisfront ziet hij er rommelig uit op de bovenste foto, maar hiernaast is hij te bewonderen in een legere staat ;). Ik vond het stofje super leuk, maar daar zie je dus niks van terug als je hem vol hangt haha! Als je ook zoiets wil maken dan is het enige wat je nodig heb een leuk stuk stof (hoe groot dat bepaal je zelf), lint, knopen en een houten stokje. Het is vrij gemakkelijk om hem in elkaar te zetten.. goed kijken naar mijn foto's en mocht je er toch niet uit komen, geen probleem! Ik help je graag :)!

Google-able :D!

How cool is it that when you make something it ends up third when you google the subject? It is awesome!! I already saw the pageviews go up, but I now know the cause ;)! When you google 'etos zomerbandjes' and look at the images you will find my hand as the third result haha :D!

Hoe vet is het dat als je iets maakt je uiteindelijk het derde resultaat bent op google? Echt super!! Ik had al gemerkt dat het bezoekersaantal omhoog was gegaan, maar ik ben nu achter de oorzaak ;)! Als je 'etos zomerbandjes' googled en kijkt bij de afbeeldingen vind je mijn hand op de derde plaats haha :D!

DIY: Etos Zomerbandjes net even anders

I am really sorry but this one is only in Dutch...
Jullie hebben ze vast al gezien in een van de Etos boekjes, of misschien ben je al de trotse eigenaresse van een paar exemplaren ;)... de Etos zomerbandjes! Ik heb gister even groots ingeslagen en kreeg daarbij twee armbandjes. Bij het open maken grote teleurstelling... twee dezelfde! Wat moet ik daar nou weer mee :(... Een overactief hoofd was natuurlijk weer het gevolg haha! Na een paar proefjes kwam ik op dit exemplaar uit. Wat je nodig hebt is simpel. Twee Etos zomerbandjes, wat ringetjes, een slotje en twee extra touwtjes. Voor die extra touwtjes heb ik ophanglusjes uit een vestje gebruikt (die dingen zitten toch altijd in de weg en waren lang genoeg :) ). Je knoopt de twee extra touwtjes met een ringetje in het midden van de twee zomerbandjes. Vervolgens vlecht je de zes draden in elkaar. Aan het einde maak je een grote knoop van de zomerbanddraadjes en aan het uiteinde van de extra touwtjes knoop je het slotje vast. Vergeet niet om deze knoopjes goed vast te 'plakken' met doorzichtige nagellak :)! En klaar is crea! Good good luck :D!

DIY: The Notebook PartII - The Birkin-bag like wrap

Isn't he cute :)? I am a big fan of the Birking bag, but of course it is way to expensive for me haha! Never mind, my notebook received the Birkin-bag look today :). It is hooked with wool and finished with cotton and a key cord as a lock. The pattern used is one of my own creations, so it is not too hard to make :). (But you need to be able to hook!) What you need is two differen colors of wool and crochet hook number 4. I set up 31 stitches (depends on the size of the notebook). Is hij niet schattig :)? Ik ben een fan van de Birkin-bag, maar natuurlijk is die veel te duur voor mij haha ;)! Maar dat maakt niet uit, want ik heb vandaag een Birkin-bag look-a-like gemaakt van mijn notitieboekje :). Hij is gehaakt met wol en afgemaakt met katoen en een key-koord als sluiting. Het patroon heb ik zelf bedacht, dus is niet al te moeilijk om na te maken :). (Je moet natuurlijk wel kunnen haken!) Je hebt twee kleuren wol nodig en haaknaald nummer 4. Ik heb 31 steken opgezet in het begin, maar dit hangt natuurlijk af van de breedte van je notitieboekje. Hier onder zijn wat foto's genomen tijdens het maken. OMG it's BLUE!

Jup! Made myself a new trouser ;)! And since color is a must this season I thought... why not? So it's blue... screaming blue... heavenly blue... the 'I like' kind of blue :)! It was a bit more pain in the ass to make than the snake pants presented in my first blog. I wanted this want to be a bit more classy, so I needed a zipper at one side. For the first time ever I made buttonholes... which was not a great succes on the sewing machine, had to make them by hand (where did we have such an expensive machine for..?). To make the fit right a belt is needed, but that is something to work on for the next pants ;). Got to keep improving yourself right :D!

Jep! Heb een nieuwe broek gemaakt ;)! Aangezien kleur dit seizoen toch wel een echte must is dacht ik... waarom ook niet? Dus het is blauw geworden... gillend blauw... hemels blauw... de kleur waar ik van hou :)! Hij was lastiger om te maken dat de slangenprint broek uit mijn eerste blog. Ik wilde deze wat klassieker maken en dus moest er een rist in. Voor het eerst moest ik knoopsgaten maken... dat was niet echt een succes op de machine, dus die moesten op de hand (waar hadden we ook al weer zo een duur ding voor?). Om hem perfect te laten zitten moet er wel een riem omheen, maar dat is een mooi aandachtspunt voor verbetering bij de volgende broek ;). Je moet jezelf blijven verbeteren natuurlijk :D!

DIY: The Notebook PartI - The Beginning

A creative mind can not live without a creative notebook in my opinion :). I already told you that I used my WTJ as a creative journal of my mind... but there is no space left in it. So I needed a new one :). This is the first part that I will show you of my new notebook... or actually it is a bag-book :D! I can take it with me everywhere I want... even if I am not carrying a real bag :). The instruction shows you how to make yourself such a bag-book. All you need is a simple notebook... a fancy coloured paper bag... siccors and glue :).

Een crea-bea brein kan volgens mij niet zonder een crea-bea boekje :). Zoals ik laatst vertelde gebruikte ik altijd mijn WTJ als opslagplaats voor mijn creatieve uitspattingen... maar dat die inmiddels vol is. Dus had ik een nieuwe nodig :). Dit is het eerste gedeelte van mijn nieuwe crea-bea boek wat ik aan jullie wil laten zien... of eigenlijk is het meer een tas-boek geworden :D! Zo kan ik hem overal mee naar toe nemen, ook als ik geen gewone tas mee heb :). De instructie hieronder laat zien hoe je zelf zo een tas-boek in elkaar kan zetten. Wat je nodig hebt is een leeg notitieboek... een papieren tas in een leuke kleur... een schaar en wat lijm :).

Doodling at work

Working at a call-center requires some patience. Waiting for people to answer the phone... to answer the questions... etc. Luckily we have a big bunch of empty sheets to doodle on :)! Yesterday I made some new doodles. I used to glue them in my , Wreck this Journal, but since there is no place left in it I am currently pimping up a new notebook (will post something about that one soon!). Here are two of my new doodles, and the doodle page out of my WTJ :)!


Als je werkt op een call-center, zoals ik, heb je geduld nodig. Je bent aan het wachten op mensen die de telefoon opnemen en daarna moet je wachten op de antwoorden die ze moeten geven... etc. Gelukkig hebben we daar een bak vol lege blaadjes om jezelf mee te vermaken. Gisteren heb ik weer wat nieuwe kladsels gemaakt :). Normaal plakte ik ze in mijn Wrech this Journal, maar die is helaas vol. Ik ben nu bezig met het versieren van een nieuw kladblok (daar komt binnenkort meer info over!). Hier zijn twee van mijn kladsels van gister en een pagina uit mijn WTJ met wat oudere tekeningetjes :)!
